Research Specialist (With Data Science background)
- The Azerbaijan Tourism Board (ATB) promotes tourism in Azerbaijan across various fields including hospitality, tourism agencies, exhibitions, events, tourism products, regional destination development and guide associations. Our aim is to create a sustainable industry by constantly enhancing Azerbaijan’s tourism products. Responsibilities:
- Design, plan and coordinate surveys
- Interpret data, analyze results using statistical techniques and provide ongoing reports.
- Use data to answer key questions about the strategy.
- Deliver takeaways from data with statistical significance.
- Present the findings in a clear and informative way
- Identifying patterns and trends in data sets•
- Conduct desk researches, benchmark study
- To conduct analyses of tourism statistics and research in cooperation with other units of the Azerbaijan Tourism Board and publish corresponding reports within and outside of the Board
- To help collate tourism statistics and to improve the quality and availability of tourism statistics
- To supervise the updating of the statistical database of the Azerbaijan Tourism Board and of the statistical information provided on the website
- To establish and promote contacts and cooperation with stakeholders in tourism statistics and representatives of the Tourism Industry
- Complete other division related tasks by head of division/department.
Requirements:
- Good background of business analytics is a must.
- MS Excel advanced knowledge (Analysis Toolpack, Pivot tables, graphs) is a must
- Advanced English is a must (especially professional writing skill)
- Good Oral communication skills in English
- Visualization in Power BI or Tableau is required.
- Advanced knowledge of Python for data science
- Machine learning skills is required
- Math/numerical background, good analytical skills is a plus
- Knowledge and understanding data analysis concepts
- Minimum 2 years of experience in data collection, consulting, analytics or a related function involving quantitative data analysis.
- Good understanding of Hypothesis testing, Data mining, clustering, regression
- Minimum 2 years of experience on survey design, planning, and coordination of process.
- Experience in cooperation with experts from other disciplines; experience in tourism industry is an advantage
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively
- 2+ years of experience on empirical research, preferably in tourism or hospitality fields
- Good education in statistics at the tertiary education level, or demonstrably equivalent abilities
- Experience in working within an empirical research environment and ability to use information technology and related systems such
- R Studio or Stata (either of them is sufficient) and Excel
- Experience in cooperation with experts from other disciplines; experience in tourism are an advantage
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively
- Good English oral and written communication skills
