Head of Legal Department

• Be trusted adviser to the Executive Board, Supervisory Board and by ensuring that commercially sensitive, pragmatic and practical legal support and advice is provided in a cost-effective manner to assigned business unit.
• Assign and supervise legal matters involving the institution, review legal matters involving the institution. Serving as key legal advisor on all major business transactions, including international financing, project finance and etc.
• Transform conservative work and decision making process into efficient one and considering internal clients’ needs and changing environment.
• Build “business oriented” legal unit and developing “client oriented” team. Drafting and alignment department’s “strategy”/operational plan to the institution ‘s strategic plan.
• Department transformation from risk averse into business oriented the support function.
• Reorganization and optimization of workload within department. Improvement communication between LD and other business dpartments.
• Unification and standardization business units’ contracts.
• Assist in developing a disciplined control environment within institution; identify and mitigate risks (legal and other).
• Manage major (non-collection) litigation (local & international)
• Advise major financing transactions (loan portfolio transfer, project finance, etc);
• Coordinate and supervise all relationships with outside counsel retained by the institution.

Qualifications:

• Phd or Master’s degree preferred in Law from an accredited law school and at least five years of working experience in a legal corporate environment.
• Proven experience as a Head of Legal Department (at least 3 years);
• Demonstrable track-record producing effective and high-quality legal advice to departmental heads within a business, leading to enhanced integrity in both internal and external affairs;
• Proficiency in Azerbaijani, Russian, English.
