About the role:
We seek highly skilled and committed Coordinator of English as a Second Language. The main remit is create and then lead and manage an effective framework for teaching and learning interventions in support of students with ESL needs in the Cambridge Stage 1-8 classes at MTK. In addition to fulfilling a part-time teaching timetable, the successful applicant will line manage an ESL and Learning Support Team of around 7 colleagues who will support not only English-language learning but also access for students to other subjects delivered in English. The role is non-class-based but with a teaching timetable of around 0.6 (to be confirmed once provision mapping has occurred). The successful applicant should be an expert at whole class, individual and small group ESL teaching and be open to teaching demonstration lessons to colleagues and parents. Leading staff training for the ESL and Learning Support team is integral to the role. The successful applicant requires a high level of competency and both in ESL teaching per se and also for teaching other subjects (Mathematics, Social Studies, Computing, PSHE) through the medium of English to learners with ESL needs.
Key duties include:
- Excellent whole class, small group and individual teaching (around a 0.6 contact timetable is envisaged)
- Using assessment data to determine ESL needs throughout the Cambridge Stage 1-8 classes (provision mapping)
- Planning and implementing the provision with the ESL team, using a skilful blend of whole class, small group and individual strategies
- Teaching model lessons – Training, leading and managing the ESL and Learning Support Team The position will suit a committed, enthusiastic teaching professional possessing the correct blend of moral purpose, pedagogical and interpersonal skill.
Essential Requirements:
- A pedagogical education / Qualified Teacher Status within Azerbaijan.
- At least 3-5 years of experience
- C2 English level
