Qualification:
- Degree in Electrical Engineering
- Health & Safety qualification desirable, eg the NEBOSH Certificate/Diploma
- 5-8 years electrical safety or electrical experience
- Associates or bachelor’s in electrical related field, or electrical trade and/or EHS experience
- Knowledge of AC single and three-phase power systems at high voltage, medium voltage, and low voltage levels
- Knowledge of DC power systems at medium and low voltage levels
- Knowledge of electrical safety hazards including arc flash, arc blast, and shock
- Experience with field work in substations and/or transmission systems.
- Understanding of OSHA regulations with an emphasis on relevant sections of 1910.269
- Understanding of NFPA with emphasis on 70E, NEC, NESC and other applicable standards and codes
- Knowledge of renewable generation systems (wind turbines, solar panels, inverters, battery storage) is a plus
- Computer proficiency using Microsoft Products (Excel, Word, Power Point, Teams)
- Verbal and written communications skills
- Keen prioritization and time-management skills
- Knowledge of formal hazard assessment techniques such as Hazop and Hazan and corporate methodologies.
- Advanced organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple assignments
- Ability to effectively work and communicate at all levels
- Good level in both written and verbal English
- Proficient in MS Office, Excel, and reporting
Job Description:
- Develop and maintain the Invenergy Electrical Safe Work Program (ESWP) document that governs electrical safe work practices across all Renewable operations
- Primary interface for electrically related safety questions and comments from engineers and field personnel
- Support creation of LOTO procedures, JHAs, and safety bulletins
- Create content for training of personnel on electrical safety and hazards in the workplace
- Manage root cause analyses to identify potential future risks, and drive fleet-wide corrective action plans
- Support operations link with construction teams on new project commissioning and turnover for wind, solar, and storage developments as it relates to electrical safety
- Lead site and fleet specific audits, reporting, documentation, and policies for operating facilities
- Find creative safety solutions to unique challenges associated with wind, solar, and storage facilities
- Research industry trends in electrical safety operations for new technologies
- Review, improve, and collaborate with electrical engineers on Arc Flash studies and policies
- Provide guidance on selection of personal protective equipment, use, testing, and inventory
- Ensure contractor compliance with specific electrical safety programs
- Support training group on electrical qualified worker program
- Review environmental hazards associated with electrical systems with various local laws and regulations
- Conduct workplace inspections, audits, and investigations as required.
- Compile and prepare reports on a monthly basis
