Location: YARAT Contemporary Art Center
Reports to: Director.
Key Accountabilities:
- Develop, plan and supervise implementation of education mission, goals
- Develop, monitor and manage departmental budges in conjunction with the Artistic and Executive Directors; conduct bi-annual expenditure reports with the Director of Finances
- Develop activities modules, workshops, lectures and events for visitors of all ages that are related to exhibitions through ongoing research
- Conduct regular evaluation of educational content and methodologies. Adjust content and interpretation based on evaluation results
- Supervise volunteer/internship program: support volunteer/internship training program
- Conduct weekly meetings with direct reports to provide appropriate coaching, development, and assessment for the team
- Coordinate event planning, including supplies, catering and other equipment, if necessary
- Work closely with PR Director on creation of promotional materials and coordinate graphic design, printing, and distribution processes
- Oversee the service contracts and acceptance acts with the Lawyer; monitor purchase orders, travel authorizations and other administrative paperwork
- Establish and cultivate effective collaborative relationships with the local artistic and academic community, partner organizations and governmental institutions for increasing program diversity, audience interest and quality programming; responsible for other duties as assigned
Knowledge, experience and qualifications required:
- At least 5 year experience working in education or related spheres.
- Knowledge of and passion for arts
- Proven leadership, supervisory, interpersonal and management skills are essential;
- Ability to write interpretive and promotional museum education materials (programs, brochures, exhibition researches, guidelines, etc.)
- Ability to give tours, moderate and lead public presentations, lectures, artist talks and panel discussions
- Ability to attend events that are after-hours, weekends, internally and outside of the country
- Ability to understand different learning styles and level of comprehension for different ages
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills (English, Azeri and Russian);
- High level of adaptability (ability to react quickly to any issue arising and to act accordingly in a challenging realm of contemporary art.)
- Ability to work effectively and tactfully with staff, artists and presenters, and the public
- Experience working with groups of children in a museum setting or similar environment
