Onshore External Vacancies

Job Title: Buyer

Location: Azerbaijan, Onshore

A vacancy has arisen for a Buyer as part of the Onshore Business Unit and is available for Azerbaijani citizens only.

This role will be part of the Supply Chain Team, reporting to Procurement and Logistics Team Leader.

The candidate will be responsible to perform analysis of market and delivery conditions in order to determine present and future material and subcontractor availability and to ensure that purchases of goods and services are to the requested specification, competitively priced and expedited for on schedule delivery.

Key Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

  • Assist line supervisor(s) in the development of procurement strategies.
  • Assist with agenda development for pre-bid and pre-award meetings for project procurement.
  • Help coordinate activities with operations and maintenance team members.
  • Solicit and help tabulate commercial evaluations from bids.
  • Prepare purchase orders, deal with subcontracts and help with sub-consultant agreements.
  • Interview suppliers’ representatives regarding specifications, cost factors, and other issues related to procurement of equipment, supplies, services and materials.
  • Confer with suppliers to obtain product or service information including price, availability, and delivery.
  • Review invoices for compliance with terms and acceptable supplier deliverables/milestones.
  • Expedite delivery of submittals and equipment deliveries.
  • Consult with internal resources concerning tax, insurance, and liability issues.
  • Prepare status reports, letters, and other documentation pertaining to procurement activities.
  • Assist in the execution of online bidding records.
  • Ensuring regional and local input is duly considered in all Global Supply Management Projects
  • Driving implementation and compliance of Global Supply Management Strategies and ensuring that common
  • andards, procedures and processes are followed, and best practices are utilized
  • Ensure that all logistics tasks are processed with respect to technical requirements and in line with company policies, standards, procedures and defined processes.
  • Participate in cross-functional Supply Management Projects.
  • Cooperate with purchase team to ensure cost efficient and timely delivery of goods.
  • Maintain a high level of communication with offshore supervision and onshore management and within the Supply Management Team.
  • Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with the Company’s Policies and Procedures with special focus on Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental issues.
  • Report any Overage, Shortage, Damage or otherwise Non-Conforming consignments.
  • Stand-in for alternative work discipline as required.
  • Complete any other reasonable tasks as delegated by Line Supervisor.
  • Assist the Procurement and Logistics Team Leader function as required during peak periods, absence etc.

Key Skills/Qualifications:

  • BS or BA Undergraduate Degree or equivalent relevant manufacturing and/or commercial experience;
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience with SAP in a purchasing role is desirable.
  • Specific experience with Business Communications including general knowledge of contracting, an understanding of the legal framework of business and a general
  • derstanding of compliance and risk from a business perspective is desirable.
  • Good PC knowledge, incl. PowerPoint, Word and Excel.
  • Knowledge of regulation and law (Incoterms).
  • Good communication, coordination and organization skills.
  • Self-discipline, mature attitudes and behaviors, respect and caring.
  • Basic knowledge of SCM policy, practice, procedure & principles.
  • Well organized, proactive and a good communicator.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Commitment to safe working practices, policies and legislation.
  • Enthusiastic and hard working.
  • SAP Skills are desirable.
  • Fluency in Azerbaijani and English languages (both verbal and written).
  • Experience within an equivalent role is advantageous.
